Take a large skillet and heat a little oil in it.
Put onions in it followed by thyme. Cook for a long time until you mixture including the onions gets soft enough.
Cook for 15-20 minutes at least.
Then reduce the heat, let the mixture sizzle and set it aside to let it air cool.
To take a step forward, mix sour cream with mayonnaise in a small container or a bowl.
Add in the Worcestershire sauce and season your creamy mixture with salt and pepper.
In the next step, add the cooked onion mixture and whisk until combined completely.
Cover the container from the top and chill it for at least an hour or maximum long time. You can also keep it in the fridge overnight.
When your dip is all ready to serve, garnish it with chives and serve your delicious dip with potato chips.
