Iyengar Bakery Rava Cake Recipe

Iyenger Bakery style rava cake is a famous Indian tea time cake that is made with semolina/sooji/rava. This rava cake is made without eggs and with this simple recipe you can make a rava cake at home hassle-free.

This eggless rava cake recipe is simple with very common ingredients. The curd and milk give a soft texture to the cake and vanilla essence adds a delicious flavor.

Make sure that you use the finest chiroti rava for the cake. Otherwise, run rava in the mixer until fine. We are using fresh milk (at room temperature), but you can use powdered milk as well. For more sweetness and delicious flavor, you can also add mawa to this recipe.

The rava cake is gorgeous with so much of flavor and perfect for tea time gatherings with friends and family.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup maida
  • 1 ½ fine semolina / barik rava
  • 1 ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ cup fresh curd
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup oil
  • 1 cup powder sugar

How to make rava cake

Preheat the oven to 180 oC.

In a bowl, combine rava, baking powder, baking soda, milk, and curd. Mix all these ingredients well and set aside for 20 minutes.

In a mixer, add powder sugar, oil, butter, and essence. Beat well and transfer this mixture to rava mixture. Add maida and mix the batter well.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 30 minutes until the sides get brown and the toothpick comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes and then remove it on a plate.

Iyengar bakery style rava cake is ready to serve. Cut it into slices and enjoy.
